THE BATTLE OF ZENTA SPEED DEMONS
14-swiss system pairings. Time limit is game in 10. Entry fee is $20 club
members, others $25. Prizes are 60 % of entries paid back out. Registration is
from 11-11:50 AM. Round times are every 30 minutes, lunch after six games. With
a smaller field, you’ll play two games against each opponent instead of one.
State and national memberships required.
12 September [Chess Castle]
THE CHÉRON MEMORIAL X-QUADS
3-RR Time limit is Game in 40 + 15s delay. Entry fee is $15 for club members,
$20 others. Prizes are $30 for 1st in each quad. Registration is from
11-noon Round times are 12-2-4. State and national memberships required.
17 September, Friday night [Roseville Oval]
TWIN CITIES CHESS LEAGUE
Round One of this year’s edition of the very popular TCCL. Teams of four play
one Friday night per month thru to spring. Entry fee is $80 for each team. Time
limit is game in 90 minutes. Start time is 7 PM, but come early the first round,
especially the team captains should be there at six. This year’s dates are
September 17-October 8-November 19-December 10-January 14-February 11-March11.
Form up your own team, or just show up this night, as teams will definitely be
looking for players. Teams that qualified for the two round robin sections
should contact Dave Kuhns at e4e5@hughes.net to confirm their participation.

Chess.MN 3rd FIDE Open Rating Tournament
Five rounds, swiss system pairings, in two sections:
Open (FIDE and USCF rated):
Entry fee is FIDE titled players (FM, IM, GM, WIM,
WGM) enter free (any prizes won will be reduced by $50), FIDE rated players:
$50. FIDE unrated and rated at or over 1600 USCF: $70.FIDE unrated and rated
under 1600 USCF: $90. Prizes are (b/20): 1st: $250, 2nd: $150, 3rd: $100; Best
FIDE unrated: $100

THE SEPTEMBER POTS
No memberships of any kind required. A fun event that often attracts very strong
players.$10 gets you a pile of chips, with another $5 buy-in if you need it. Game in
5. We will open at six, but you can get in whenever you show up. Half of the
entries goes to some cash prizes. Loser gets up and leaves a chip, goes to
another table; winner of two games in a row takes the pot.

THE SEPTEMBER CASTLE SCHOLASTIC TOURNAMENT
USCF Rated Tournament at the Chess Castle, for young players (K-12). Entry fee
is $10. Registration is from 9-9:45. One section this day. Four rounds, swiss
system pairings. Time limit is game in 45 minutes. Round times are
10-12:15-2-3:45. Registration is from 9-9:50
Trophies for top scorers. Slices of pizza and cans of pop will be sold on site

TUESDAY NIGHT CASUAL CHESS
(WEEKLY EVENT)
6-10pm. Now that we hold our own space again, we can bring back this weekly
evening of inform chess. Play blitz, slow games, analyze, whatever you wish.
Recommend this to any friend looking to start out in the royal game. Free to
members, a guest that a member brings along, or any first
time visitor. There is a $3 nightly fee for all others.
Aside from holding tournaments most Saturdays and Sundays,
we are also open at least three evenings during each week. These regular nights
are...
Monday Action Quads: Three games in a round robin
format. We divide into groups of four by rating. Time control is
game in a half an hour. Register from 6:30-
7pm, and I will be doing the pairings right away,so
we should be done by ten. Entry fee is $10 for members, $12 others.
Prizes are $20 for 1st in each section. No one is
stuck with a bye ever.
Tuesday Night Casual Chess : 7-10pm. No charge for Oct, small fee later.
